Some thoughts from the artist:

Currently, in my Real Life Reality, I am in the in-between space of this piece that is dark and ominous, but I can see that there is something "just beyond the clouds" where the sun is shining and illuminating. A place that is warm and alive, and maybe even comforting. It is a climb and physical labor to get there, but it exists. I can see it. I can sense it. I know there is a place through the trauma work and healing that I am currently slowly journeying through, that is warm, and I can imagine the feel of the sun on my face in that place.

I know that the work ahead requires talking. AND, I am confident that the healing cannot be as whole, or as complete, if I don't continue to also simultaneously lean into being in my body and engaging in the therapeutic practice of art. By creating without talking, I can feel my being mending.

I have no idea what my Real Life Reality will look like on the other side, when I reach the place "just beyond the clouds," and there is a large part of my rational mind that needs clarity and concreteness to feel safe. So, I'm taking a breath, holding my mind's hand, and inviting it to rest alongside me as I create. And hopefully, my mind will absorb some of the healing and safety from the process my body continues to engage.
