I’ve always seen these canvases as too small, too confining. I’ve needed big-ass canvases for my big-ass feelings.

But these feelings? They aren’t big-ass, explosive feelings. These are small, gentle, tender feelings. And these pieces are the softest, truest pieces I’ve painted in a long time. 

The desert - the one I was raised in, and ran from years ago - is quietly mending and healing me and my family. And I never saw that twist coming.
